Letters for my Children to read

This blog is for my children to read in order to understand how I feel, even if I don't have a chance to share it with them because of the divorce and the fact that we do not live in the same house. When they are older I plan on sharing the fact that this blog is for them. I do not plan on using any details that would identify them.

The times for your soccer team

The new high school soccer coach wanted to set individual benchmarks for the team members and he set up dates to test every member of next year's soccer team.

You did well on your times, but it was clear that some of the older players (Juniors and Seniors) were strong and faster and these times helped get me to understand that, even though you are quick and strong.

Maybe all those video games you are playing aren't as much help as you think...

High School Graduation Dress

First, I must admit that I did not know there was such thing as a "graduation dress..." I had already spent $200 on the graduation packet from Jostens which had you cap and gown and invitations, and I thought the graduation gown would be covering enough for the ceremony so it did not matter what you wore underneath...but I had counted on a graduation dress, but you did and $100 later you had a graduation dress and that was it...

A poem I found this morning...

I never have been in that situation before
it's not as if I have become envious
of others that have achieved fatherhood
it's just that children are something to be prized
not just something to add to the world

I know you think that I could not care for this baby
and maybe you are right
It is just that there is something there
that I feel must be said
and that I care what happens
I might not be able to do anything about it
but I care anyways....

The poem was written (based on the typewritten paper) probably in the early 1980's, before I was married and had children. It could have been in response to the paternity suit that was filed against me in the last 1970's or it could have been in response to an abortion one of my girlfriends had when I was in college.
